Powering U.S. clean-tech growth

ABB is a Zurich, Switzerland-based company engaged in research and manufacturing of power and automation technologies. The company, with North American headquarters in Cary, has a $51 billion market cap and 30,000 employees in the U.S., 2,000 of whom are in the Triangle.

A recent report by national environmental policy group Environmental Entrepreneurs notes that in Q3, North Carolina ranked fifth in the nation for new clean energy job creation, a number that grows each quarter and each year. That's due to job creation in the Triangle's cluster of clean energy, transportation and technology companies, says Allen Burchett, ABB's senior vice president of business development at ABB North America.
