Research Triangle Region, N.C. - SAS co-founder and CEO Dr. Jim Goodnight, OSIsoft founder and CEO Patrick Kennedy and U.S. Rep. David Price (D-N.C.) will be among key speakers at the inaugural Energy Thought Summit (ETS@researchtriangle) Nov. 12 in Fletcher Opera Theater at the Duke Energy Performing Arts Center in Raleigh, N.C.
They are among 40 top executives and thought leaders from across the nation who will examine the state and future of energy at the summit, coordinated by the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC) with Zpryme.
“Many of the world’s most innovative companies have grown out of great research universities, especially those that understand the value of tapping into talent as well as research,” said Lee Anne Nance, managing director of the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster and executive vice president of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership. “The ETS Education and Energy panel and Big Data and Analytics panel, featuring Dr. Goodnight and Dr. Kennedy, will showcase the importance of education, research universities and the role North Carolina plays in the emerging science of using data infrastructure for power and energy operations.”
Joining Goodnight on the Education and Energy panel will be faculty leaders from N.C. State University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as well as top business leaders discussing the importance of education and research universities and North Carolina’s emerging prominence as an energy technology hotbed.
Kennedy and others on the Big Data and Analytics panel will discuss how real-time data solutions for the grid are enabling utilities to reduce costs through improved yields, improved quality and equipment reliability.
Price, whose district includes the Research Triangle Region, will speak on the role of government in advancing clean energy. Many of the other keynote speakers and panelists come from RTCC market-leading member companies, including major summit sponsors, ABB Inc., Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, PowerSecure International and Schneider Electric.

Doors open at 7:15 a.m. The program begins at 8 a.m. and ends with music and networking 6-8 p.m. The latest electric car models offered by BMW and Tesla Motors will be showcased at the summit along with an electric car built by students at Topsail (N.C.) High School for the EV Challenge.
